The premium mobile manufacturing giant OnePlus is set to launch two new OnePlus Smart TV series in India on July 2. The two new Smart TV lineups will be aimed towards the entry-level and Mid-range price segment in the Indian market. OnePlus had launched two Smart TVs last year. These were OnePlus TV Q1 and OnePlus TV Q1 Pro which were launched last year as two initial Tv variants of the company. Both the TVs came with a starting price of 69,900INR. Even though the initial Smart TV launches of OnePlus were premium offerings, the new Lineups are targeted at the affordable segment. TVs will be available on the Amazon store and OnePlus site.
The news came to limelight as OnePlus Founder and CEO Pete Lau tweeted the news on Monday, June 08 and the company elaborated the launch news by issuing a short press release after. The tweet said “It’s official. We’re making our premium smart TV experience more accessible to our Indian community. #SmarterTV “.
The press release also clarifies that OnePlus will not compromise any terms of Quality and other premium features. Therefore, it is most likely that the new TV series will have many of the existing premium features from OnePlus. OnePlus is committed to offering a premium experience across different screen sizes – to the mid-range as well as the entry-level segment.
The new Smart TV models are said to compete with brands like VU, Xiaomi, and Thomson which offer various models in the entry and mid-range TV market. Earlier, according to the report by The Economic Times, OnePlus India’s Chief strategy officer Navnit Nakra said that considering the rapid growth of the entry as well as mid-segments in India, OnePlus is planning to launch new TVs to diversify its offerings and reach a wider audience. As per the report, the OnePlus’ entry-level smart TV will be around $200 (15,000) whereas the mid-range TV will likely be in Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 range.
