OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has given an update on the OnePlus’ TV concept, which was teased September 18th last year, that the TV will be called OnePlus TV. This information came to public knowledge when it was found as “Unique Android TV” in Bluetooth SIG certification listing.
What could be so unique about OnePlus TV?
The OnePlus will come out with Bluetooth 5.0. This feature is an advantage because the user can connect their Bluetooth device to the TV and have a better personal experience. That is power efficient though. But this is not enough to raise the bar in the uniqueness meter. What else we can expect?
As we all know the best and economically satisfiable TV at present in the industry is Mi TV. It has got its operating system called PatchWall OS, which is integrated with Sensy Smart remote system.
To compete with such an anchored product, OnePlus gotta have something to offer as a counterpart. What we expect OnePlus could do is apply their skin on top of the Android OS with extra little features as their signature move. OnePlus is known for doing this in the smartphone industry. So why not add this hot sauce on the new product.
Android TVs have proven to be successful around the globe, giving users access to all the desired streaming apps.
Sony, LG and Samsung use their interface, companies like Xiaomi and Yu use stock Android UI.
OnePlus has confirmed that its TV will have voice control and an integrated camera just like Mi TV’s Sensy.
As far as specs, there is not much information available. But what we know is that OnePlus TV comes in 4 different sizes, 43-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch, whereas 43-inch is said to be exclusive for India and 75-inch for US and China. OnePlus TV is also said to have screen resolution ranging from FullHD to QHD, where QHD resolution might be for the 65-inch and 75-inch models.
The OnePlus TV is expected to be launched in September this year, although it had been announced to be launched in early 2020.
It is also expected that OnePlus TVs may take on Xiaomi Mi TVs in terms of pricing
OnePlus has hinted that the TV may have a ‘burdenless’ design like its overall design philosophy.
“We are excited that there will soon be a new kid on the block called “OnePlus TV” that is born out of the “Never Settle” spirit and “burdenless” design philosophy,” stated the official forum post while introducing the logo.
