One Plus Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., commonly referred to as OnePlus, is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer based in Shenzhen, Guangdong. It was founded by Pete Lau (CEO) and Carl Pei (Director) in December 2013. The company officially serves 34 countries and regions around the world as of July 2018.
OnePlus recently launched its flagship, OnePlus 8 series of phones, and now the company is gearing up to launch entry and mid-range TVs in India next month. The tech giant is also expected to launch a new affordable smartphone which is tipped to be called the OnePlus Nord.
OnePlus Nord 5G – allegedly the retail name of the OnePlus Z (previously known 8 Lite) – will have a quad-camera, teases leakster Max J. Initially, renders showed a dual camera, then rumors claimed a triple cam, now we’re up to a quad setup.
Back when the rumors were claiming a triple cam, the breakdown was a 64 MP main (some sources claimed 48 MP), 16 MP ultrawide, and a 2 MP module (likely a depth sensor).
The fourth module may be a macro camera as putting a telephoto lens on the “lite” model (even if it’s not named as such) doesn’t make sense. For comparison, the vanilla OnePlus 8 has a 48+16+2 MP setup, matching the triple cam rumors about the Nord.
Technical Specifications of Device
Apart from this, the new report doesn’t reveal anything about the device. However, previously a Geekbench listing had revealed key details about the device’s specifications.
Power and Processing
The listing hinted at OnePlus going with the Snapdragon 765G SoC, instead of a MediaTek SoC for the device. This could be paired with OxygenOS 10 operating system based on Android 10.
Display And Other Specs
The display on the phone is tipped to be AMOLED in nature, with a screen size of 6.4-6.5 inches running at a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Under the hood, the phone is expected to be made available two variants, with either 8GB or 12 GB of RAM and storage of 128GB or 256 GB. Keeping the lights on could be a 4000 mAh rechargeable battery with support for fast 30-watt recharge via the USB Type-C port.
Rumored to be a mid-range device that has already been announced to make landfall in India before anywhere in the world, the OnePlus Nord is tipped to bring some premium features in a package that will flaunt a mid-range Snapdragon chipset.
