AMD revealed the new Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X Desktop CPU couple of days ago. The new Matisse processor has some leaked benchmarks from a couple of sites and looks like it already has an edge over comet lake processor.
Just after the new Matisse series was launched, we had some comparisons with the Intel i7-7700K, and the outcome was in favor of AMD. Comparing both the processors having 4 cores and 8 threads, Ryzen 3 3300X was ahead of the Kaby Lake processor. The Ryzen 3 3100 was a little behind its successor.
Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X vs Core i7-7700K
Ryzen 3 3100 was down by 12.5% when compared to the Single-Thread performance of i7-7700k while 4.9% down in Multi-Thread performance. Coming to the 3300X, the Geekbench’s comparison just beats the i7-7700K chipset with 5818 while AMD’s scores 5874. This is Single-Thread comparison while in Multi-Thread, AMD seems to outperform Intel having 20329 while AMD having 20948.
Where both the new AMD processors give a tough challenge to the Core i7-7700K, they look ready to even take on the new Comet Lake i3-10300 chipsets as well. This was reported by Tum Apisak which mentioned was taken from the 3DMark Time Spy Benchmark. The hardware freak also mentioned benchmarks about the Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X in the other tweets.
Now it might not be fair comparing the AMD’s latest chipsets with Intel’s older series, but the similar architecture makes it worth the comparison. The comparison seems fair considering the cores and threads of the processors are the same. Also, the Ryzen 3 3300X clocks at a base frequency of 3.8GHz and boost the frequency of 4.2GHz while the Core i7-7700K clocks at 4.2 base frequency and 4.5 boost frequency.
Ryzen 3 3300X vs Core i3-10300
The new Core i3-10300 could probably be a replacement for existing Core i7-7700K having the similar 4 cores and 8 threads in the processor. The pressure from the AMD series has forced Intel to include the Hyper-Threading for upcoming Core i3 and Core i5 Comet Lake CPUs. The Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X directly compete with Core i3-10320, Core i3-10300, and Core i3-10100.
According to the reports, the CPU score difference between Ryzen 3 3300X and Core i3-10300 was a noticeable 3.3%. AMD Processor showed up a score of 5395 while Intel showed a score of 5221. Clearly, the AMD chipset is at a lead here while looking at the fact that both the processors have 4 cores and 8 threads. Also, the TDP of AMD is 65 W whereas Intel is rumored to be 62W.
Coming to the prices, the Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X will be launched with a price tag of $99 and $120 respectively. The Core i3-10300 is rumored to launch with a price tag of $150. Looking at the price tags, the AMD processors pack a punch compared to the older Intel processors.
These are Benchmarks from the site and no conclusion can be drawn except that AMD might have improved performance over the new Ryzen series and more comparisons can be expected over the next few weeks until the processor is out to the people.
