Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 just got announced. Qualcomm claims that the processor will provide some of the high-end features to the mid-range devices. This new chip brings support for triple cameras at the rear.

This processor uses kryo 460 architecture which is built on ARM’s Cortex-A76 cores, which are designed exclusively for flagship devices and haven’t it made their own way into Qualcomm yet. The first major SoC with Cortex-A76 is Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 980.

Here things get a little bit confused kirin 980 is a flagship processor but Qualcomm’s mid-range processor snapdragon has managed to get the same cortex-A76 cores(ARM).

Qualcomm has introduced a very new chip with advanced architecture as a mid-range processor by reducing individual core speed.

Snapdragon 675 has only 2 performance cores clocked at 2.0GHz with 6 power efficient cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

You can compare it with the current flagship Snapdragon 845 which uses 4 performance cores clocked at 2.8GHz based on Cortex A75, so it will still be a lot faster.

And also Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 is built on 10nm whereas the all-new Snapdragon 675 is still sitting on 11nm. Lower the nm means higher the performance, lower the Heat production, smaller the size be.

What is new in Snapdragon 675?

Apart from the cores and the speed of the Snapdragon 675, it has been designed for the reality that the features are no longer exclusively to flagship phones.

Triple camera

The new image signal processor comes with the Snapdragon 675, it has been built with a triple camera at the rear support setup.

Gaming improvement

For gamers, the Snapdragon 675 chip now supports GPU Turbo and better GPU Optimisation

Fast charge and better AI

This chip comes with built-in support for Qualcomm’s latest quick charge 4+ support and fast AI engine.

Qualcomm expected Snapdragon 675 to make its way into consumers phone in the first quarter of 2K19. So don’t be surprised if it seems like everyone’s new devices in 2K19 have 3 cameras on the back.
